Up For The Year - In spite of tumbling 20.5% on the single trading day of 10/19/87 (32 years ago this week), the S&P 500 gained +5.3% (total return) for the entire 1987 calendar year. The S&P 500 consists of 500 stocks chosen for market size, liquidity and industry group representation.
