Susan B. Anthony - In 1884 (135 years ago), she asked Congress for an amendment allowing women the right to vote.  In 1919, Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the Constitution which was ratified in 1920 by the states. It said, "The right of a citizen of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex."
